How To Pick A Wonderful Tip To Costa Rica

Posted on

If you have the traveling bug, then Costa Rica should be one of the destinations on your list. It's a tropical paradise with a backbone of active volcanoes. In other words, it is a wonderland for eco-tourists. It boasts pristine jungles, beautiful animal populations, and exotic adventures to be had. Still, knowing how to make the most of your trip is the best way to make sure that you have a trip that yields stories you can tell for a lifetime.

Beware the Animals

One of Costa Rica's huge attractions is the animal population. Monkeys, jaguars, ocelots, snakes, frogs, tropical birds—there is almost an endless number of animals to go see. However, if you set out to see the animals, remember to keep your distance. Even something as innocent as feeding the monkeys can turn ugly quickly. Monkeys who grow accustomed to getting food from humans can get aggressive. They have been known to steal purses and/or pee on humans, so keep your distance for your sake and for the sake of others who will come later. Even something like holding a colorful frog can be deadly, as some of these frogs carry poison on their skin which is strong enough to kill a human. When looking for animals, take care and only take pictures from a safe distance.

Plan for the Season

It is important to remember that weather patterns in Costa Rica are different than here in the States. You might think that taking some time off in the summer is a great idea. However, summer is the rainy season in the tropics. If you do go during the summer, July is the best month to go because it is drier than other months during the rainy season. Even during July, you should expect rainstorms in the afternoons, so you should plan to take advantage of the morning hours for outdoor activities. You may also want to look into animal migration patterns, crop-bearing season for fruits, and the times that the local populations have festivals so that you can plan your trip based on what you most want to see.

Costa Rica is a beautiful country with more adventures to offer than you can possible fit into a brief trip. Still, simply scheduling a trip and hoping for the best is not the best option. Do some research to find out what is available and then plan your trip according to what adventures you want to have. Whether you never leave a luxury resort or you spend as much time as possible in the jungle, you are sure to have a wonderful trip.
